We are authorised by the Financial Services Authority to conduct investment business. Throughout its long history, the firm and its predecessors have maintained strong connections with the stockbroking community in the West of Scotland, originating in David Bird’s own ‘sharebroking’ in 1845. We have built up excellent relationships with all of the Scottish stockbrokers and are now sponsored members of the stockmarket’s ‘paperless’ settlement system, CREST. This enables clients to deal in ‘paperless’ shares, which is increasingly necessary as settlement timescales go on shrinking.
