Alex McArdle's Retirement

Alex McArdle our Personal Tax Manager, last month celebrated thirty years of continuous service with the Firm. This anniversary was celebrated in suitable fashion. However, having passed this milestone, Alex has decided that the time has come to retire, which he will do at the end of August.
Whilst Alex is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, Kate, he is leaving with mixed feelings, in view of the close and enjoyable relationships that he has established with his many clients over his years with the Firm. Alex has valued these enormously, and his joy at escaping from the world of work is tinged by regret at leaving these relationships behind.
The Firm has always regarded Alex’s personal tax work as a key part of our service to our personal clients, and so we have taken our search for a suitable successor very seriously.
We are delighted that, in Douglas Seaton, who will join us on 20th August, we have a worthy successor to Alex. Douglas recently took early retirement from HM Revenue and Customs, after more than 20 years of service in a variety of roles, and was latterly much involved with the development of Revenue systems and procedures. He is familiar with the whole range of Alex’s work.
Alex and Douglas will have two weeks of working in harness together before Alex’s departure at the end of August, to ensure a smooth and seamless transfer of responsibility.
Alex would like to express his gratitude to all of his clients for their trust over the years, and we are sure that they will join with all of us at the Firm in wishing him and Kate many happy years of retirement together.
