Question 3

When should I begin making pension contributions?

As soon as you can afford to do so! There are always plenty of things to do with your money, particularly when you are single or newly married with a young family. However, the longer you delay starting a pension the more you will have to pay to build up a reasonable fund. The longer you wait, the greater the increase.

Because pension premiums are invested within a favourable tax environment the growth that can be expected from your contributions can be great if these are made early in your career.

If you are thinking about starting a Personal Pension, or increasing your existing contributions, and want advice on any aspect, please contact Frank Fletcher, Tom Monteith or Pamela Niven who will work with expert independent financial advisers to make the best pension arrangements for you.
